Delhi govt mulls to install AI-based cameras to detect traffic violations

The Delhi government plans to install Artificial Intelligence-based cameras, specifically Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR)-based violation detection cameras, as part of the Integrated Traffic Enforcement Management System (ITMS). This system, supported by advanced AI-based video analytics technology, aims to reduce traffic violations and improve road safety in Delhi. It will also address issues such as de-registered End of Life Vehicles and vehicles without a valid Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC). The ITMS will utilize ANPR technology to capture licence plates and integrate with the VAHAN database for categorization and identification of vehicles.
